AP - Diapers appear to be making a huge comeback among adult American men and women. A recent survey finds an increasing number of Americans have started wearing diapers due to their comfort and functionality. While it used to be taboo for adults to wear diapers, stories in the media, such as astronaut Lisa Marie Nowak who traveled cross country to confront her romantic rival, have opened the dialogue of diaper wearing in America. A recent report by the census bureau shows that diaper wearing among adults is up 37% from the 1980’s where diaper wearing was at an all time low with just 16% of Americans wearing diapers on a daily basis. In the past six months searches for “Adult diaper wearing” have increased 2500% according to the popular search engine Google. But what makes diapers wearing so increasingly popular is their efficiency.

Some experts have coined the term “the diaper effect” and have compared its efficiency with caffeine, the worlds most used performance booster. Adult diaper sales in 2008 and 2009 is fore-casted to add billions of dollars into the economy and help the American dollar regain its value. Although economists are booming, the Environmental Protection Agency is less than pleased.
